1/17 POSC Meeting Notes

Just a quick recap on the meeting

We discussed having a plan for our marriage, that it is important to look forward and to be positive. We determined our personality types and got ½ way through the first chapter. Becky or Chris will complete the rest of the first chapter next meeting. Aurora and Todd will lead the lesson on 2/21.

We decided to pursue…

Supporting the Lunch Bunch/Julia
Julia is in charge of the Lunch Bunch. We will be one of the groups that she calls on to volunteer to help. The Church will provide the food and we’ll prepare it and set-up/clean-up (ducking out of service a little early). We’ve committed to doing this 1x a month I believe.

Looking into a POSC T-shirt
When: Sooner than later
Details: We’ll try to keep the cost down to around $10 and Steve is going to put together some logos. Submit ideas, thoughts and suggestions to him. I understand there is a contact at All Saints that makes them.

Pump It Up (a kid’s event, ages 4 thru…) *completed
When: Jan 22nd 2:45 to 5:30pm, meet at the Church

Doing a Grown-up Night
When: Feb 4th 6:30pm at Chris and Becky's
Details: We’re going with a Mexican theme. Chris is doing fajitas, we’re doing a casserole and stuffed jalapeños on the grill, and Andy and Robin are bringing rice and beans. We all talked about bringing a beverage of choice to contribute. Please get with Chris for food details.

Doing the Valentine’s Dinner
When: Feb 11th
Details: This was said to be very nice last year and this year Julia is participating in making the desserts. We’ll get to enjoy a romantic meal with our spouse AND support a good cause. Oh yeah, childcare is provided.

Kole’s Bday (a kid’s event)
When: Feb 18th at Cliff Nelson 3:30 to 5:30pm

The Trip to See Pastor Scott
When: March 4th & 5th
Details: Julia is making a card for the congregation to sign, will have it ready for Sunday signing on Feb 18th. Chris and Andy are going to look into hotels near Scott’s Church and will have info by our next meeting on Feb 7th. I will talk to Steve and ensure that March 5th is a good time to go and see about getting in touch with Judy so that we can maybe take them out to lunch afterwards. For those interested, feel free to discuss the option of getting a suite to split the cost.

A Camping Trip
When: TBD, Details: Mike is heading this up.
1. Who in your family is interested in going?
2. Indicate if you have a tent/want to rough it, would like to rent a cabin, etc. We have a site that should be able to work for everyone IF you're interested (see email for details)

Feb (Dinner at the Eaton’s, Valentines Event, and Kole’s Bday)
March (going to see Pastor Scott- an overnight trip)
April (T-ball season begins and goes thru May 20th)

1/17 POSC Meeting Agenda

I am missing everyone BIG TIME!!! I can't wait to start our new lesson plan. Hope everyone has their book. Beckster said she'd lead the first lesson.

Also the Help Me Project for her and Chris has been put off. Robin and Andy are still on the list of people to help to so...

Some ideas have been brought up and wanted to get your thoughts on...
A trip to go see Pastor Scott
We were thinkin' about getting a hotel stay overnight close to his Church and letting the kids swim and stuff/hangout the night before.

Adult Activity
It has been awhile again since just the adults have gotten together and gone out to do something- maybe we could plan something? We could do the going out thing, dinner at someone's house thing or an activity (rock-climbing/nature walk/etc). What are your thoughts? When should we plan something (let's look at our schedules).

Kid Activity
On 2/18 3:30 we have Kole's Bday party at Cliff Nelson- all are invited. There will be activities and a project. Cake and punch will also be provided after they do sports time in the gym.

T-ball is Coming Up...
I'll get the details (they haven't been posted yet) but I believe sign-ups are during February, the coach's/parent's meeting is mid-March and the season starts in April through May/early June (I think). Both my boys will be playing, so if you have a 3-4 year old or a 5-6 year old and want to sign up... I think Art is planning on coaching the 5-6 year old team that Kole and Gage will be on and if I remember correctly, was Todd up for volunteering to coach the 3-4 year olds? When we do sign up, we'll note on the sign-up sheets all the kiddos that want to be on the same team and who we want the coach to be. Pass the word on to anyone interested, the kids from the GROUP may also want to sign up.

Before Tues 1/7 Order...

Andy was nice enough to narrow down some books for us and we decided on...
Title: Extraordinary Marriage: God's Plan for Your Journey
Authors: Rodney and Selma Wilson
ISBN: 0-6331-9787-4
He purchased the book at Lifeway Christian Stores for about $10, however, you may be able to surf the web for a cheaper price. A couple of other sources are amazon.com and half.com (eBay).
