Cross in the Sky

I took this picture this past Tuesday. Mike noticed it and I had my camera on me. We were rushing to go to small group, we both were a lil' cranky and this was almost like a reminder of what we needed to change our focus to.

Memorizing Verses

Thought this might be a good verse to try and memorize. Maybe once we conquer this one, someone else can suggest a favorite of theirs and so on and so on.

Psalm 23 (KJV)
The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want.

He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters.

He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake.

Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.

Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.

Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the LORD for ever. (KJV)

Sept/Nov Open for Suggestions

We're doing a School's Starting Activity Sat. Morning-
(details below) and the Carnival this Sunday, Aug 14th.

Then next Saturday night, Aug 20th- is Adult Swim Sushi.

September is open- suggestions?
Robin, you've had some great suggestions in the past- want to plan this one?

October I think the petting zoo might be fun?
I'm sure they'll do Trunk or Treat too at the Church?

November we might want to do a grown-up thing?
Two kid things in October is alot- will be fun but...

December we might just keep free- so much going on...
Maybe us Mom's can do a shopping trip or something?

I'd like to think about the Helping Project, something to discuss.

Aurora Sent This

May today there be peace within. May you trust God that you are exactly where you are meant to be. May you not forget the infinite possibilities that are born of faith. May you use those gifts that you have received, and pass on the love that has been given to you....May you be content knowing you are a child of God... Let this presence settle into our bones, and allow your soul the freedom to sing, dance, praise and love.
It is there for each and every one of you.

Adult Time at a Kid's Party

Watchin' the kiddos (from afar). This unofficial POSC event gave the adults some time to enjoy the workers chase after the kids.

And then there was cake.

Church Water Fun Aug 9th 6-9pm

Don't know if you got the mailing but it looks like Church is planning a water event for the lil' ones on Aug 9th at 6-9pm. I think we'll go but the schedule is filling up fast so if something gets cut... this may have to be it. Oh yeah, if you do- bring a box of individually wrapped snacks.

Anyone else planning on going?

BTW- the picture is off of google and I thought it was cute.

Our Last Meeting/Schedule

Loved the meeting, and am looking forward to All the Wonderful Plans.

Open items...
Todd, you were going to give us the details of the Neighborhood Marching Band Event.

Julia, you were going to plan a Starting School Event for the Kindergarteners, can't wait to see what you come up with. Nailing down a date would be pretty important, so how about Saturday the 13th? Time, location, activity is totally up to you.

Andy, can't wait to have you back- we're looking forward to you leading the last two lessons. Also, you may want to think about discussing the HELP idea (see previous blog). I think everyone is on board with the whole, rotate a shift schedule and childcare setup for getting help on whatever whomever expresses needing help with. We'll need to figure out if we want to draw names, how often to do it, who will participate in the helping out and who will help out with childcare.

Becky and Chris- oh great leaders, I guess you'll be looking into what to do for our next lesson plan?

Also, and I hope I'm not alone on this- does anyone have suggestions for setting up a cutoff time for meetings. I could have them go all night but that makes for overtired people and since time-management was just a topic of discussion.... I suggested to Becky maybe having someone in charge of time. Someone to make sure we move along and end the meeting at whatever time everyone thinks is good?

Items already on the agenda...
Jack's Bday- Aug 7th 1:30pm (you know where).
School is Starting Event- Aug 13th? Details Coming...
Church Carnival/Becky's Bday- Aug 14th.
Sushi- Aug 20th. Line up a sitter and meet at (whatever it is called) at 6:30? Time still TBD? That day I believe is also Todd's Marching Band's Event- Details Coming...
Hotter Than Hell- Aug 27th. This is a bike ride Mike and Chris are doing in Wichita Falls and all are welcome to join them. The fee is $30 but all proceeds go to charity- Breast Cancer. They'll be meeting up and heading out EARLY from our house that day at 6:30am.

Empowered Parenting

Lesson 9, just kidding (not that again)- Lesson 10

Fatigue Factors...
Time management- spreading yourself too thin? Evaluate your priorities. What activities matter?

Sleep deprived? The Lord provides for those he loves, while they are asleep. Tired people have fewer emotional reserves.

Materialistic? For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also. What purchases are "worth it"? K.I.S.S. What is your exposure to interuptions and are your resources under the Spirit's control?

Ban/Can/Plan

A Calendar can lock in our priorities. Make a family night- Fridays? Again, where our treasures are (including time) is where our hearts will be also. Share chores cheerfully.

Say No, have good habits, and don't overbook. The devil can't make you bad but he can make you busy.

Prayer is the key to the morning and the bolt to the evening. A day hemmed in prayer can't unravel.

Help- Think About It

Todd brought up a great point; why not utilize each other to meet the needs in our lives?

Some of us need to get our back deck removed, some of us would like to do some painting, and some of us might just need some scrapbooking time or a good shopping trip/sporting event outing. So think of your needs? And how can we help?

Let's make a plan of action- no stress, no worries.

We can tackle these things as the come a lil' at a time.
